Q. Please give a summary of your background in the tax industry – how you got started, if you were in another line of business before, etc. Include current tax-related activities and areas of specialization. If you have a tax business, please let us know where it is located/how many staff you employ/any other information you think is pertinent.
A. Approximately 12 years ago, I directed my focus exclusively on accounting and taxes. Even though I enjoyed this field prior to opening my own business, it took me some time to acknowledge that I can make a full-time career out of something I enjoy so immensely. Currently, I have three locations with 11 employees located in Chicago, Lockport, and Palatine. I strive to make sure all my staff is constantly updated on new developments in the tax industry.
Q. Please give a summary of how you found out about NATP and what benefits you find the most valuable – include any NATP activities you've participated in (Education, Mentoring, Instructing, etc.).
A. I found out about NATP through chance. I was reading an article and it was mentioned that the support and level of knowledge that NATP offered to them as a member was a very valuable resource to their business. After becoming a member, I certainly have come to the same conclusion.
Q. What do you feel are the biggest challenges facing tax professionals today? What could NATP do to better prepare them for those challenges?
A. I feel that the biggest challenge is the unregulated tax industry. The fact that organizations such as NATP stand up for their members is very encouraging.
Q. What are your future career goals?
A. I look forward to seeing how the tax industry will change in the upcoming years and will enjoy keeping up with all these new changes. Technology will have a dramatic impact on how our industry develops in relation to how services are provided to our clients.
Q. Please share any information that you'd like about your family, hobbies, community involvement, etc. In other words, your life outside of the tax industry!
A. Well, my wife and I enjoy taking long drives to new destinations with our son, admiring the scenery, as well as walking around different towns. It is our favorite way to spend time together and relax, plus our 5-year old son enjoys it too. We are proud sponsors of the "Gift from the Heart Foundation" which helps organize life saving operations for children from Poland here in the U.S.
Q. Any other information/concerns/suggestions you'd like to share with fellow tax professionals?
A. Dedication and commitment to our clients can never waiver; we have a responsibility to ourselves, to NATP as an organization, and to our clients to uphold a high standard of excellence.
